40 Years of Sesame Street

Posted by Tahirah

Generations of children have grown up on one of the best kiddie programmes EVER!!! I wish they didn't stop it on Channel 4 in the UK,  I'm sure some of these toddlers growing up wouldn't be so angry if someone showed them how to get to Sesame Street!

Eff Dora, screw Spongebob...there was nothing like Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar The Grouch and co.  Entertaining and educational, Sesame Street has carried generations of children across the world through their pre-school years! And there are some real important life messages for kids, in the characters alone:

Oscar The Grouch taught kids that sometimes you're destined to be a hobo. There's no point in moaning about it - just be the best damn hobo you can be.

Bert and Ernie taught children to look at homosexual luuurve without any prejudices (sorry if I'm disillusioning your childhood innocence, but they were definitely gay...always in bed in their PJs?)

The Cookie Monster was the kid-friendly crackhead...did you see the way his eyes would roll around his little blue head? "cookies(crack)...cookies(crack)...COOKIES!"
